   BONAVISTA COUNCIL

2018 Mayor Norman.jpg

Welcome to Historic Bonavista, a town with a proud past and a bright future.  Bonavista’s history is deeply rooted in the fishery, but now includes a variety of businesses and attractions. The historic Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, The Ryan Premises, The Matthew Legacy, whales, puffins and icebergs – it’s all here.

Bonavista offers all of the essential services and a variety of businesses that supply the usual requirements to its citizens, along with many unique shops. We also have a dedicated and visionary town council and staff working hard to serve the community and prepare Bonavista for the future.

In the last decade, Bonavista has undergone quite a face-lift. Our revitalized downtown area, under the leadership of the Bonavista Historic Townscape Foundation, has instilled Bonavista with a strong sense of community pride. Many old homes and buildings have been given a new life and now reflect the charm of days gone by. It is our people who have made this community great and it is our people who make me proud to serve as Mayor of Bonavista. Whether you have chosen to make Bonavista your home or are here for a visit, I’m sure you’ll find you have made a wise choice. I invite you to explore our website further to discover all that we have to offer. The future is looking bright and we have only just begun!
