The Town of Bonavista has received an application for approval to operate a Microbrewery and taproom/restaurant at the above-noted property. The proposed hours of operation are Monday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. during the tourism season and Thursday to Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. during the tourism shoulder seasons.
To preserve the special character and traditional features of the streetscape this project will adhere to the Town’s Heritage Restoration and Development Regulations and guidelines. No on-street parking will be permitted.
The Town of Bonavista is considering this application under the category of “General-Assembly- Catering” under a discretionary use of the Mixed Used-Heritage (MU-H), as per the Town of Bonavista Development Regulations, 2014-2024. The Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs interprets a microbrewery as a “Light Industry” use. As a result, the Town of Bonavista will amend the Mixed Used-Heritage zone during the development of the new Municipal Plan 2025-2035. The new Municipal Plan process will commence in April 2023.
This Notice of Discretionary Use is advertised in accordance with Sections 19 of the Town of Bonavista Development Regulations, 2014-2024. Any person who wishes to comment on the proposed development is asked to contact the Town of Bonavista in writing on or before Monday, March 27, 2023 at 3:00 pm.
